Online Blackjack - Fun and Exciting Black Jack Online

History of Blackjack

Blackjack is one of the oldest and most enjoyed card game that can be found in every online casino today. The reason it is so loved could be because of its fast paced action. Over the years, several different versions have evolved, but the basic principles have remained the same.

The exact origins of the game are unknown but the aim of reaching 21 with the cards that you are dealt has also remained unchanged. According to popular belief this game dates as far back as the early 1600s to France/Spain. In later years when Blackjack was brought to the states, gambling venues offered players bonus payouts, which caught people's attention.

Players were awarded additional cash prizes if the receive what is now known as a natural 21 (natural blackjack). The name instantly stuck and the popularity of the game continued to grow from then on. Blackjack first started appearing online when the very first casinos also started appearing and it can now be found in both instant flash casinos and downloadable casinos in either the free play practice mode or in the real money mode.

How to Play Blackjack

The main aim is to reach 21, or as close to 21 as possible. You are only playing against the dealer and you will start off with being dealt two cards. You must then add the value of these two cards together to determine your next move. There are various different moves that you can make to try and improve your hand.

You will be able to see one of the dealers cards, which is dealt face up. This should help you in your decision making. Each card is worth its face value. An Ace is worth either 1 point or 11 points and the Jacks, Queens and Kings are all worth 10 points. So if you are dealt an Ace and any 10 with your first two cards, you will have been dealt an awesome hand (a natural blackjack) and the only way to not cash in from this hand is if the dealer happens to be dealt an identical hand.

There are certain options such as split (you can split two of the cards if they are the same and therefore you will have to pay for having two hands). You can also double, hit, stand, take insurance and more. Just aim to reach 21 or as close as possible by using whatever strategy seems to work for you.

Blackjack Advice

The best advice for playing blackjack is try not to make silly moves. Don't be too greedy and remember that the dealer has to stand if he reaches 17. Blackjack would be worth playing in the practice mode before playing in the real cash mode. This will help you grasp the basics without risking any of your bankroll.

If you have been dealt a 10 and a 9 (a total of 19), it would be crazy to take another card, although this option will be available to you. It would also be silly to stand if you total is something like 9 (perhaps a 5 and a 4).

There is such a thing called basic Blackjack Strategy. If you could learn this and stick to it when playing online, it should marginally reduce the edge that the house has over you. There are also certain moves that you should make when you are dealt certain cards and also based on what the dealer is showing.

With most versions of online blackjack, you will have the option of being able to take insurance or place side bets (both of which will cost you a little extra). It's better to just forget about these, although they can often seem too tempting. It's just another way of the casino getting more money out of you, so steer clear of these additional bets.
